5StarWines – The Book 2021 in its print version is out and Vinitaly sent us the certificates of our winning Amarone wines. We are really proud of the awards, which see our Reserve 2011, 4th overall wine and Amarone with the best score, 96 points, and the only winery with three awarded Amaroni.
Here are the impressions of the jury, (published in the guide in English):
Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva 2011 – 96 points
Deep dark ruby color. Intense nose of tobacco, dried herbs, sweet dried fruits, and black chocolate. The soft palate shows licorice and complex leathery notes. Velvety tannins and very long finish.
Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Voxius 2014 – 93 points
A wine with a complex nose which combines sweet fresh black and red fruit, marmalade and sweet spices, notes of leather, earth, chocolate and tobacco. Powerful structure with plenty of acidity, good balance with supple tannins. A mouthwatering red.
Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Terre di San Zeno 2013 – 91 points
Very typical and faithful to the Valpolicella terroir and its varieties. Morello cherry and a touch of jammy forest fruits combine with a gentle yet distinctive pepperiness that drives the palate. Ripe tannin, succulent fruit and vibrant acidity make for a lovely wine!
